Teconomar Evo 120 Destroyed by Fire

19 June 2019

The 37-meter Tecnomar Evo 120 was destroyed by a fire that broke out on board in the early morning of June 16, Boat International reports. The vessel was moored at Marina di Carrara in Italy, and the captain was reportedly the only person on board at the time and was not injured.

Firefighters and the coast guard were called to the scene at about 1 a.m. and worked with a tugboat to extinguish the flames, Italian media Liguria Nautica reports. The boat was towed to a more remote section of the marina to prevent the fire from spreading.

At the time of the fire, there were 8,000 liters of fuel aboard, and reports maintain that none of this has leaked. The Coast Guard has ordered absorbent anti-pollution substances to be put down as a precaution to prevent environmental damage.

Footage and photos in the aftermath show the vessel significantly submerged in the water.
