The 90-meter M/Y Nero overturned in a dry dock at the Amico & Co. refit yard in Genoa, Italy, on September 10. Local media Il Secolo XIX reports that the incident occurred as the boat was being relaunched and was reportedly caused by one of the “support panels” giving way.
Four people were reportedly injured, and the fire brigade and harbor master responded to the incident, according to Il Secolo XIX. Local media Primocanale.it says that two more people were rescued directly from the vessel.
Photos on social media show the vessel tilted over on her port side. The damage to the boat is currently unknown, and the cause of the incident is being investigated.

M/Y Nero’s management Döhle Yachts said the incident occurred at 3:30 p.m. local time on September 10 during drydocking operations, and the vessel “listed to port and came to rest at an angle of about 30 degrees within the dock,” according to a press release.
She did not make contact to the dock wall and appears to have suffered only minimal damage, but surveys and inspections are still ongoing. Döhle Yachts stated that there was no pollution or risk to the environment due to the incident.
Nero’s crew made it safely off the yacht after the incident and no one was seriously injured.

The Amico & Co. shipyard stated in a press release that M/Y Nero was in dry dock no. 1, managed by Ente Bacini, to undergo maintenance works. She “listed during the pumping out phase of dry-docking, for reasons that are yet to be ascertained.”
Six crewmembers sustained minor injuries and were immediately assisted at the facility, and five of them were taken to the hospital for further tests. But they were all released that evening.
She is now in a stable condition, and inspections and operations to secure the vessel are ongoing.
