Feeling Festive: Holiday Crew Traditions

17 December 2019 By Aileen Mack

The holidays are for celebrating and spending time with loved ones and those you care about. But when you’re crew, it might mean you’re working. But that doesn’t mean you can’t do something special to celebrate, whether it’s a nice meal, a group activity, or just relaxing, the feeling of togetherness can be comforting when you can’t be home for the holidays. It may just be a small gathering, but it can keep that holiday feeling alive. So what holiday crew traditions do you have?

“We do Secret Santa on board and have a barbecue on the beach. We snorkel and Seabob.”
Stewardess Sascha Bruwer, M/Y Dragon

“We’re still a new boat, but we’ll probably dress up and force the guests to. For Halloween, we dressed up as zombies.”
Sole Stewardess Katie Pretorius, M/Y Elysium 1

“We have a crew barbecue in St. Martin and try to make it as homey as possible. We do Secret Santa. Last year, everyone ended up getting a portable speaker. We got dressed up in tropical shirts and Santa hats.”
Third Stewardess Ellie Sin, M/Y Gladiator

“Have a social for the crew. We make it special and low-key with a tree and Secret Santa.”
Second Officer Tom Medlock, M/Y New Hampshire

“We have a nice meal at the famous lamb restaurant in Palma and hike in the mountains. Have a bottle of wine and we have about 20 crew gather together.”
Second Officer Adnant Xhelilaj, M/Y Metis
