28 May 2019 By Laura Dunn

On the closing day of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, a 29-year-old British crewmember working aboard 27-meter Princess M/Y Minx died.

On May 27, M/Y Vision collided with M/Y Minx while performing maneuvers, according to the Maritime Prefecture of the Mediterranean. Minx was anchored just north of the island of St. Marguerite when the accident occurred.

Despite rescue efforts by a doctor, nurse, and firefighter aboard a rescue boat and medical crew, the crewmember suffered a cardiac arrest and died.

The remaining passengers aboard both vessels were evacuated to Port Canto and an investigation into the incident by the maritime prosecutor’s office of Marseille is now under way.
