A Clear Winner: M/Y Winning Hand's Before & After

30 July 2019 By Laura Dunn

If ever a yacht was well-named after being refitted, it’s M/Y Winning Hand. The 120-foot Broward underwent a seven-month refit at Lauderdale Marine Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, beginning in 2018.

Karen Lynn Poulos, owner and designer at Karen Lynn Interior Design, says the yacht was completely redone with no original finish left on the boat — including all new refinished woodwork, new LED lighting system throughout, a new plumbing system, and a new electrical system.

“The inspiration was a modern beach look inspired by St. Barths or St. Tropez,” Poulos says. All materials were commercial grade and designed for heavy-duty wear and use, yet they still look beautiful for charter use.

As for her favorite change, it was the master cabin “because it went from a very dated and unattractive space to something very beautiful and serene.”

For Poulos, who managed 16 subcontracted companies and more than 150 vendor orders, the best part of the refit process was watching the transformation and knowing that her client trusted her 100 percent to carry out their vision.
