2021 Miami International Boat Show Canceled

29 October 2020 By Staff Report

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) announced significant modifications to its boat and sport show schedule in the first quarter of 2021. Included in the changes is the cancelation of the Miami International Boat Show, which was scheduled to take place from February 11–15, 2021, at Miami Marine Stadium. The press release says the decision was made after a thorough analysis of the local market and was guided by NMMA’s safety-first principle — placing the utmost importance on the health and safety of everyone involved in producing, attending, and exhibiting at the show.

“These decisions are in the best interest of our consumers, staff, members, and industry and are the result of months-long conversations with exhibitors, health officials, venue operators, and other stakeholders on producing safe, successful, and high-quality consumer experiences,” said NMMA president Frank Hugelmeyer in a press release. “We understand the vital role boat shows play in showcasing new products and generating sales for the recreational boating industry, and we plan to resume our full show schedule starting in September 2021.”

While NMMA is currently proceeding with three shows (Atlantic City Boat Show, Northwest Sportshow, and New England Boat Show postponed), eight other shows were canceled alongside Miami’s, including the Progressive Insurance Atlanta, New York, and Baltimore boat shows. The 2022 Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show is scheduled for February 17–21 at Miami Marine Stadium Park & Basin.

NMMA is also evolving its boat shows to meet today’s consumer and tomorrow’s buyer demands by launching a new program, connecting NMMA’s boat shows and the industry’s national Discover Boating campaign. The program will provide a more seamless, meaningful consumer experience, and more details will be announced in the coming weeks.
