Celebrating more than 35 years, the Newport Charter Yacht Show continues to showcase some of the best the yachting industry has to offer, including exceptional crew talent across four competitions. From June 22 to 25, Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard welcomes agents, owners, brokers and crew. With an opening day of competition briefings, the evening kicks off with a captain and crew happy hour.
On June 23, the CYBA Designer Water Contest lets crew show off their creativity and eco-friendly practices. This contest was created 13 years ago to demonstrate an easy way to eliminate plastic water bottle waste and highlight the great taste of water that can be produced on board. In the afternoon, chefs will be battling it out to impress the judges and be crowned the best charter yacht chef. Stop by the main tent from 1 to 3pm for a glimpse of the action. From 5:30pm to 7:30pm, cheer your fellow crew on during the thrilling Captain and Deck Challenge — made up of three exciting rounds.
Interior crew get their moment in the spotlight on Wednesday, June 24, with the tablescaping and signature cocktail competitions. A panel of professionals from Newport Yacht Interiors will judge each table on originality, composition, use of materials and how well the tablescape fits the yacht, plus attendees can vote on a fan favorite. All crew are welcome to craft a mocktail and cocktail using mixers or secret ingredients from their bar pantries in the cocktail competition. Show attendees will evaluate the drinks for taste and presentation to determine the winner.
The American Yacht Charter Association hosts its annual signature seminar series on Thursday, June 25 — a morning full of networking, educational seminars, raffles and a full breakfast in the main tent. Following the show closing and horns, the awards for the competition winners will be presented and crew are invited to celebrate the end of the show.
