Puerto Banús

Puerto Banús is one of the European marinas with the longest history behind it. Its origins date back to the 1960s, when its founder, José Banús, began to build a luxurious residential area called Nueva Andalucía, close to Marbella downtown.

Puerto Banús was founded on the concept of a Mediterranean village in Andalusian style, with luxurious avenues adorned with colourful gardens bathed by the sea. The inauguration of the complex took place in 1970, with more than 1,500 guests. Among them were members of the Spanish Royal Family, Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco as guests of honour, and a very young Julio Iglesias who delighted the audience with his music.

Today, Puerto Banús is one of the Mediterranean’s leading marinas, with numerous superyachts passing through at any time of the year. It has a total of 915 moorings distributed over 15 hectares of sheltered water for boats of up to 50 metres in length, as well as the possibility of anchoring for larger vessels.

For more than fifty years, Puerto Banús has been the meeting point and favourite place for numerous celebrities, artists, writers, elite sportsmen and international public figures who see this marina as a lively, exquisite place where they can always enjoy a special day out. For many years, celebrities such as Sean Connery, Liza Minelli, Julio Iglesias, Luis Miguel, Mariah Carey and Grace Kelly of Monaco were regular visitors to Puerto Banús in both summer and winter. Nowadays, it’s not hard watching celebrities stroll and sail such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lady Kitty Spencer or Lady Gaga.

As well as having the highest concentration of luxury brands per square metre in Europe, with close to 100 boutiques, including Dior, Hermés, Loro Piana, Versace, Bvlgari, Valentino, Louis Vuitton or Rolex, among others, Puerto Banús has an infinite number of tourist, nautical and sporting activities all year round. Its excellent location, on the Costa del Sol, allows it to enjoy more than 320 days of sunshine a year. The marina itself offers more than 80 different activities designed for all types of visitors, whether they are couples looking for peace and quiet and romance, families with young children who need adapted activities, or groups of friends looking for fun during the day and at night.

Marbella’s excellent gastronomy allows the most demanding visitors to enjoy exquisite Spanish, Mediterranean and international Michelin-starred cuisine, as well as the gastronomic routes through the olive trees and vineyards of Malaga, a unique and unforgettable experience! The area also boasts some of the best golf courses in the world. This makes it a favourite place for golf lovers.

Near Puerto Banús there are natural destinations that every tourist should visit: charming villages such as Ronda, Nerja or Frigiliana; natural spaces with great ecological reserves such as the Doñana National Park or the Caminito del Rey. Helicopter trips, numerous top quality golf courses, skiing, dolphin and whale watching are also to hand. No matter what season, age or type of trip you are looking for, Puerto Banús is a guaranteed option to enjoy life and leisure time to the full.
