During the night of Friday, September 2, 49-meter M/Y 007 ran aground off the coast of Kythnos, Greece, and ended up listing to her port side. Local media Proto Thema reports that the Coast Guard found the yacht in a semi-submerged state when they arrived at the scene. The five passengers were not in danger and were transferred to the port of Merichas in Kythnos.

The vessel reportedly hit rocks and started to take on water. Barriers have been placed around the vessel, even though there has been no observed marine pollution.

The cause of the incident is unknown, but the Port of Kythnos is carrying out a preliminary investigation. According to Proto Thema, the process of removing 007 has begun with a towing company arriving at the vessel’s location, about 15 meters from the west side of Kolona Bay.
