Find It at FLIBS

20 September 2011 By Janine Ketterer

Soon the slips of Bahia Mar Marina in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, will be filled to the brim with some of the world’s largest yachts. Tents will be set up by land and full of new products and gadgets that will make any gearhead drool with excitement. If you have a spare moment or two during the show (don’t laugh), then check out these new products and technologies that will be waiting for you alongside the docks.

Sleep Tight
Is the boat in need of some new mattresses to help the guests, and maybe even the crew (if you’re lucky), sleep more soundly? Head over to see E.J. Schrader Mattress Co., who will introduce the first custom-fit Tempur-Pedic mattress for the marine industry. Look for them in the Y&B Tent, 794.

Polish Up
It’s boat show season, so you’ll need to have the yacht looking spic and span. Check out Showboat Custom Coating, Inc. at the show as they introduce their SB-230 crystal clear ceramic coating. The high-gloss, thin-film coating is designed as a topcoat or finisher that resists fuels, paints and solvents. Just a thin, single application of SB-230 and your stainless and aluminum are protected from oxidation and corrosion. Visit them at Booth 3137.

Dive Deep
In the market for some new toys? FLIBS is the perfect place to pick up the best and newest kit for the yacht. Brownie’s Yacht Diver will have lots of their playthings on display, but will be debuting a few items worth stopping by the booth to have a look at. The next generation of underwater scooter, the Seadoo RS series dive scooter offers ultimate freedom under the sea. Lightweight and easy to use, it is the fastest recreational Seascooter for snorkeling. The Seadoo RS is powered by green, not the color, but the environmentally friendly, Li-ion batteries, which are not only detachable, but also externally rechargeable. The scooter can take you 40M below the sea. Check it out at Bahia Mar Main Entrance Tent Booth 51.

Boo! It’s GOST
Paradox Marine’s GOST, a state-of-the-art wireless security system will take center stage at FLIBS as its new control head unit, GOST Phantom, debuts. The system has other new products that include GOST Watch HD, a surveillance system, its Nav-Tracker website and the NT-Evolution, which integrates all of the GOST systems to provide comprehensive protection. Visit them at Booth 385.

Sounds Fishy
If fishing is the flame to your fire, be sure to check out Red Eye Trolling Lures. The new sets of lures will be on display this year. And if you use those lures to catch fish, you’ll need to check out Domeic Group Marine Division’s new Eskimo Ice EI400D. Capable of producing up to 400lbs of ice a day, this unit allows fishermen to travel further afield for better fishing opportunities.

By Boat
If you’re more interested in ogling boats than products, be sure to check out these behemoth beauties — though, at their size, they’ll be difficult to miss.

Rossi Navi will present Numptia, the bell of the show this year coming in at 229 feet.

Trinity’s 191-foot Carpe Diem is sure to be a showstopper as her old Hollywood style will be on display for all to ooh and aah over.

Though the 246-foot Delta M/Y Laurel is over five years old, she’s been kept under lock and key until now. She’s noteworthy as the second largest yacht ever built in the United States, second only to M/Y Cakewalk, who made her debut at last year’s FLIBS.
