Salvage work is beginning on M/Y Sea Lady II in St Tropez.

The 135-foot W.A. Souter & Son superyacht has been partially sunk in the French port since July 10, when it was badly damaged by fire. Multi-purpose barge Hebo-Lift 2 has arrived in port for the salvage.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated. It reportedly began in the bow before spreading to the lower decks. Video footage shows billowing black smoke and the vessel engulfed in flames. The fire broke out around 8pm on the 10th, about two hours after the vessel entered port, according to BOATPro data. Authorities brought the fire under control by midnight.

Launched in 1986, Sea Lady II is the flagship of British yard W.A Souter & Son. Hebo-Lift 2 was recently deployed alongside the larger Hebo-Lift 10 in the S/Y Bayesian recovery.
