PBIBS 2021 to Go on with Safety Protocols

18 February 2021 By Staff Report

After the 2020 in-person edition of the Palm Beach International Boat Show was eventually canceled and took place virtually with nearly 450 exhibitors, the 36th annual show is scheduled to take place Thursday, March 28 through Sunday, March 31 along Flagler Drive in downtown West Palm Beach. The show will feature more than $1.2 billion worth of yachts and accessories, ranging from eight-foot inflatables to superyachts nearly 300 feet in length.

In response to COVID, show owner Informa Markets has worked closely with the City of West Palm Beach to enhance safety measures. They’ve updated the layout to make the event entirely open air, along with having four entrances and exits to ease the flow of pedestrian traffic and allow for social distancing. All staff, exhibitors, and attendees will be required to have their temperature taken before entering the show and wear masks.

“The health and safety of our staff, exhibitors, visitors, and community remains our number one priority,” said Andrew Doole, president of Informa Markets U.S. Boat Shows, in a press release. “We also recognize the importance of our boat shows to the local and state economy, and the marine industry at large. We look forward to safely welcoming boating enthusiasts and marine businesses to the Palm Beach show, in a world-famous destination during the most beautiful time of year.”

PBIBS will be organized in accordance with Informa’s AllSecure health and safety standards, which were first announced in July 2020 ahead of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in late October. Informa worked with its association partners, peers, venues, suppliers, contractors, health officials, and federal and local authorities to develop these standards. The show will also follow all official government and local authority guidance and regulations.
