Seahub Yacht Management Software have opened the nomination period for its Seahub Engineering Grant for 2025. Crew are encouraged to nominate their engineers, colleagues or dayworkers who have shown: a commitment to advancing their skills and knowledge base in engineering, take pride in what they do, have a hands-on mindset and demonstrate initiative, along with being the person other crew want to work with.
Three winners will be awarded with $2,000 toward training, which will be announced January 30, 2026. Hill Maritime Group, which works primarily with engineering placements, has once again partnered with Seahub to provide financial support, mentoring and placement services as well.
“For Hill Maritime and us at Seahub, we are in a fortunate position where through the course of what we do, we have the chance to work with crew of different boats around the world, with many who are often at varying stages of their careers,” says Sam Wheaton, commercial director and co-founder of Seahub. “We both see enormous value in providing support to junior crew and offering a sounding board they can use.”
Seahub saw their largest nomination pool to date in 2024 with more female nominees than in previous years. Last year’s grant winner was Lara Allasia, who was nominated by multiple people from different programs. Wheaton shares that it showed them that she made an impact wherever she went and consistently showed up and excelled at what she did.
Previous winners have also contacted Seahub on topics from career advice to where to get hauled out in the South Pacific to which equipment is best used in a specific system on board. Wheaton shares, “It’s support we get a kick out of providing.”
Submit nominations by January 25, 2026, by emailing info@seahub.com.au or via their social media channels.
