Three years after being ravaged by Hurricane Ian, a marina on Florida’s Gulf Coast is pushing ahead with rebuilding plans.
Legacy Harbour Marina in Fort Myers began construction early this year and is aiming to reopen in early 2026. Owners AIRN Management have partnered with Bellingham Marine on the redevelopment, after having spent three years clearing it and preparing for the rebuild.
“We’re committed to restoring Legacy Harbour in a way that not only honors its history but brings in modern improvements and safeguards for the future,” AIRN CEO Rick Budd says.
The rebuilt 13-acre marina will offer 131 slips and be able to accommodate vessels up to 150 feet. It offers direct access to the Gulf of Mexico and sits in Fort Myers’ lively River District.
Bellingham Marine’s contribution will include its Unifloat concrete wave attenuator system and Unideck aluminum frame dock system with WearDeck synthetic decking for interior slips. Utilities and other basics are also being upgraded.
