Roy Temme, chief engineer on board the 62.5-meter motor yacht Baton Rouge, has died in hospital following an incident on board the yacht while at anchor in Antigua.
Local media reports the cause of death as electrocution following a power outage on board the vessel on the morning of February 23.
Emergency services and ABSAR (Antigua & Barbuda Search and Rescue) were called to the scene and Temme was pronounced dead at 10:35 a.m. local time after receiving urgent medical attention.
Burgess, the yacht's management firm has released a statement confirming that the “next of kin has been notified and we are working with the authorities to ascertain further details.”
“Burgess is providing guidance and counsel to the crew on board Baton Rouge and we ask at this time that you respect their privacy. Our deepest thoughts go out to family, friends, and colleagues.”
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
