This May, brokerage firm Burgess is leading an initiative that will see the yachting industry get hands-on in the fight against ocean pollution. Between May 6 to 12, Burgess is inviting anyone in the superyacht industry — individuals, teams, companies — to pledge to clear at least one bag of litter from their local area. From beaches and oceanfronts to waterways and rivers, the campaign hopes to make a global impact on the ever-present problem of ocean pollution.

A representative from Burgess said: “Ocean plastic pollution is on track to triple by 2060 and it’s not just beaches we need to clean.  This is our chance to bring teams, family and friends together ahead of the summer season and realize the impact we can all have collectively.” Last year, the initiative saw more than 300 participants in 40 locations across the world with 326 bags of rubbish collected.
