A New Era: FLIBS events

28 October 2020 By Staff Report

The 2020 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) may look a little different this year because of COVID-19. Informa has developed AllSecure, a newly enhanced approach to health and safety, and part of these standards require all staff and participants to wear a face mask and participate in screening measures, such as thermal scanned temperature. With seven waterfront locations that are accessible by 14 show entrances, the show’s six miles of floating docks will be widened up to 30 feet.

Here’s a glimpse at a few events occurring during the show. Send us yours if we missed them! Email: aileen@dockwalk.com

Wednesday, October 28 — Sunday, November 1:
The Oasis Lounge, Pink Zone, west of the Swimming Hall of Fame Coconuts Entrance
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
GMT will provide a static menu for crew to order from during the duration of the show. Orders must be submitted the day before, and crew can order for boat delivery, stop by The Oasis Lounge Lite to pick up food, or sit and eat. You can order in person at the Lounge, or contact Julia Russell (julia.russell@flygmt.com) for more info and to order. There will be capacity limits and enforced social distancing. The Oasis will also have a nurse on site for temperature checks beginning on Thursday.

Wednesday, October 28 — Sunday, November 1:
International Superyacht Society Virtual Lounge
The virtual social lounge is an ISS network space where members and guests can interact at virtual tables with friends, colleagues, and new connections. You’ll be able to mix and mingle, moving around to different tables, just as you would at an in-person event. Check out more info here: https://www.airmeet.com/e/7a146700-13c3-11eb-aeac-5b113170174e

National Marine
National Marine has canceled both its annual FLIBS events: The Yacht Bikers Poker Run with proceeds going to Task Force Dagger Foundation and the annual Customer Appreciation Gala held for the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. Over the years, the two events have raised $420,995. While the events are canceled for 2020, donations to the two charities would still be appreciated. https://www.floridabreastcancer.org/donate
