In the early morning on August 13, a storm broke out with more than 80 kilometer per hour winds in the Calvi – Ile-Rousse area of France, causing six sailboats and a 26-meter motor yacht to run aground on Calvi beach. The vessel is reportedly 26-meter Princess Yachts M/Y Vista Me.

According to local media Stampa Paese, the boats suffered from engine damage, torn sails, and broken mooring lines while at anchor in Calvi Bay. The storm also caused uprooted trees, washed away roofs, and flooded streets and cellars.

Maritime rescue organization SNSM dispatched vessel Marius Oliveri and its semi-rigid Pastore from its Calvi-Balagne station to assist in the rescue operations, SNSM shared on Facebook.

After more than 12 hours, the boats were refloated and towed. However, the yacht had to await the decision of diving experts to see if she could be towed safely.
