a Cala is an ancient port of Palermo, located between Via Francesco Crispi and the Foro Italico, accessible through the Port of Palermo. In the past, the Phoenicians utilized this cove where the Kemonia and Papireto rivers flowed, now underground and diverted. It was protected by the Castello a Mare and was the main landing place until the 16th century. In 2007, 19 wrecks were removed from the basin, and in 2008 the sewage network was optimized. A new Port Regulatory Plan provides for a cycle path and a seaside club with a swimming pool.
