Honoring the City of Flowers at the 2026 MYBA Superyacht Chefs' Competition

13 April 2026 By Staff Report

The 36th MYBA Charter Show is only weeks away from taking over Portosole Marina in Sanremo, Italy, with more than 80 attending vessels. One of the show's most anticipated events every year is the superyacht chefs' competition, and Dockwalk is proud to once again be the competition's media sponsor.

The MYBA Superyacht Chefs' Competition's theme for 2026 is "A Flower Feast for Breakfast." Drawing inspiration from the host city of Sanremo, famously known as the "City of Flowers," the competition will pay homage to the region's vibrant flower-growing industry, its annual flower festival and the floral beauty that adorns its public spaces.

Taking place from April 27 to April 29, the competition will require chefs to create three breakfast dishes — sweet or savory — that they would serve on three separate days of a charter. Flowers must take center stage in their creations, whether incorporated into the recipes, used as decorative elements or inspiring the design of the dishes themselves. The guiding principles are "fresh, floral and inspirational."

A parallel contest will be held for chief stews from yachts with registered chefs. The interior crew have to design an elegant breakfast table setting using the region's spring flowers. To ensure creativity, pre-made or purchased floral arrangements will not be permitted, and all displays must be crafted on board.

This year's judges include Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen who is one of the first South African chefs to obtain a Michelin star, Michelin-starred chef Colin McGurran who is now an exciting culinary presence in Antigua, and Antonio Mellino who works alongside his sons at Ristorante Quattro Passi, which now boasts three Michelin stars. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 30.
