Biras Marina Opens in North Sound, BVI

26 March 2026 By Staff Report

Biras Marina has officially opened in the North Sound of the BVIs, offering new facilities for yachts and visitors. The marina is part of a redevelopment project by the owners of Biras Marina and Resort, who aim to modernize the property while maintaining its historical significance.

The marina can accommodate yachts more than 150 feet in length, with a draft of 20 feet, and offers both long-term and short-term docking. It also has 20 mooring buoys for yachts up to 60 feet. Services include water, electricity, internet, boat cleaning, a café and a free shuttle to Gun Creek. A provisions store is planned, which will offer European products for boaters.

The marina is positioned as a key addition to the region’s yachting infrastructure, combining practical services with access to the natural surroundings of the islands.

Guillermo Houwer, owner of Biras Marina and Resort, highlighted the focus on superyachts. “Our marina represents a strategic hub in the Caribbean, being the only marina in the region specifically designed for superyachts, combining modern infrastructure and excellent services,” Houwer said. It includes two open-air restaurants: Ikigai, which serves Japanese-Caribbean cuisine, and The Mangrove for Med-Caribbean fare.

The marina is the first phase of a larger development that will include private villas, a farm, more dining, a boutique, a rooftop lounge, event spaces and yachting services.
