Anguilla sits just north of St Barths and St Martin, but the small Caribbean island has always lacked the facilities to accommodate superyachts. Now, though, a group is looking to change that — and they’re keeping crew in mind.
Port Nimara will offer 118 berths that can accommodate up to 240 feet as well as supporting marine services, a yacht club and luxury accommodations, including a hotel and residences. The main facility is scheduled to open in 2027, with the hotel and villas open by 2029.
The marina will offer a more laid-back alternative to its southern neighbors, as well as a place where yachts can get the services they need and a quiet home base in the region, says Oscar Faragher, Port Nimara’s sales and marketing director.
“It’s the detox next to the re-tox,” he says. “It’s not a party island — it’s a nice, quiet place.”
In addition to on-site crew facilities, the port will also provide captains and crew with perks such as access to a nearby resort’s racquet sports and other facilities.
“If you don’t think about crew, you’re really missing a trick,” Faragher says. “They’re the ones that live there.”
