Early June 2, Dockwalk.com learned of the passing of Fred Dovaston, CEO of his namesake Fred Dovaston Crew, a top yacht crew agency headquartered in Palma, Mallorca. He was 61.
Dovaston was a friend of many in the Dockwalk.com family and an advertiser in Dockwalk magazine.
Following is a statement provided by the company on the passing of Fred Dovaston:
Fred Dovaston, the founder and CEO of Fred Dovaston Crew passed away peacefully at home this morning after fighting a long illness. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to [his wife] Karen and her family.
A spokesperson for the company said, “We will all miss Fred enormously. We have all learned so much from his principles and ideals.”
Karen Dovaston, who has been involved in the business since it was founded some 12 years ago, took over the reins during Fred’s illness, and has proved to be his natural successor. She has been appointed the new CEO by the Board.
Among Fred’s many achievements is that he created the world’s top crew agency. Karen Dovaston and her team are proud to be handed the torch to continue to develop and build on his legacy.
Many captains and crew who regularly read Dockwalk magazine and Dockwalk.com may have memories of Fred Dovaston and/or an association with his crew agency.
