A two week course providing the essential qualifications needed to enter the superyacht industry as a Steward or Stewardess. Experience in the hospitality industry is useful but not required.

The course is split into three sections: (1) Foundation training, covering the role and skills needed as a member of interior crew, (2) STCW 95 Basic Safety Training and radio operation, (3) an introductory course in powerboat driving.

Food and Hygiene: The UK Food Safety Act 1990 and The Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations 1995 require all food handlers to be trained to a standard commensurate with their work activities. If you are operating a commercial yacht in Europe you are deemed to be preparing food for customers and must comply with these regulations.

Captains and owners expect strong hospitality skills. Having completed this programme you will have a thorough grounding in all areas needed to perform effectively at the standard expected on a superyacht.


STCW 95 is a compulsory qualification for crew on superyachts and all vessels over 24 metres. There are four elements to this five-day day shorebased course: Elementary First Aid / Personal Survival Techniques / Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities / Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting.

RYA Short Range Radio (GMDSS/DSC): This is a one-day course that teaches you marine radio techniques and emergency procedures.


The ticket you need to drive a yacht's tender. We cover this in a two-day course which provides intensive training in the practical skills and theory knowledge needed by the small boat driver.
