I'm in everyone's business, kiss up to the captain and take advantage of circumstance whenever I can

When the owners are on board I make damn sure they see me working, same thing when the captain is nearby.

A well timed smile and being there when jobs are being wrapped up is exactly how I play the game.

Saying the wrong thing to people at the right time is an efficient way to manipulate circumstances, because what is said is believed. especially when it's presented as a rumor you heard.

I learnt that working slow forces other crew to help me.

First to break, last to arrive to my work station I pay close attention to radio chatter and the location of others so I can hideout.

I keep friends close and enemies guessing.

Not fishing, simply sharing my observations.

There's always a lazy back stabber amongst the crew that's faking it, starting rumors and adding to the drama.
