Hey, Can anyone help me decide which company to do my STCW course with? UKSA or Flying Fish?! Many thanks!

I did mine at ECDIS Ltd which is in Fareham, I would highly recommend it as it's an independent training provider so you don't feel like you're back at college! They actually do an ECDIS and HELM combination course now targeted at the yacht industry.

Had a great time with UKSA, good instructors, great set up with inclusive meals and accommodation.

A little bit like boarding school for food and rooms but for what you pay it's a sound deal.

Have met countless others here in Antibes who have been through there as well, all seem very pleased with it.

All in all, would heartily recommend them.

I don't know much about FF but have heard more bad than good about UKSA from crews that have worked for me.

The best recommendation from those that have been there, including my wife and those who have had experience of UKSA is Red Ensign. They are in Cowes on the Isle of Wight -as the IOW seems to be your choice of location.

They will also provide you with a list of their approved lodgings.

I agree with Gaz. ECDIS Ltd has a really nice facility. This is their brochure if anyone is interested:
