Hello, I am wondering where I can find regulation for Cayman Islands private yachts of approx. 1000gt, in particular manning regulation? I think under the British red ensign private vessels less than 3000gt come under mgn489, but I don't know if this covers all red ensign countries and territories. Have looked on the Cayman site but it seems you have to be a member there to access the regs. Does you have information on this subject?

Thank you

Hi there Bretto11. I refer you to the Yachtmaster's Handbook put out by the CISR, which can be found here:'S-GUIDE-FINAL-27-FEB-13.PDF. You did not say whether the vessel was operated commercially nor did you provide the length of the vessel (which may require the yacht to hold an MSMD regardless if operated commercially or private pleasure), but the handbook will be a first guide in manning and STCW requirements.

Good luck!

Privately registered Yachts under CI flag may only comply a recommendation for MSMD and it is Captain's responsibility to get her manned for sufficient safety. Also no certificates whatsoever are compulsory for crew ob, not even STCW. Scary but it's bitter truth.

MACI Manning Policy Manual can be found on this page - link to the PDF is in the bottom left corner.,7345644&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL

Makes no difference where you fall between 500 and 3000 GT.
