Hey Yottek I wondered if anyone had any experience with running an Azimut 103S? Do you have any advice on the jet drives in shallow water such as ICW ? Thanks!

Dont do it!! Unless its a one off. Jets need loads of rubbish free, deep water. You will suck up anything and everything, it will only be a matter of time before you damage them. But if its too late and you have to, then factor in some serious repair bills!!

In the Med the typical Jet drive or Arneson drive dilemma occurs when you go stern too and suck up the mooring tails. This yacht owns a slip in the Med, privately sublets its in the summer and a few years ago a Jet Drive 30 meter motoryacht rented it for the season. This charter yachts literally daysailed off the berth so they needed a fast, easy to use system which kept the mooring lines free of the jets several times a day . The captain was obviuoly experience because he sent me an email with detailed Mooring line scantlings to be instaled before he arrived. Two moorings lines were to be attached to the ground tackle with a max beam spread to keep them out of the yachts footprint. The moorings were detailed as 8 meters of 12 mm chain shackled to the mooring blocks , then shackled to 8meters of black 24mm yacht braid for handling with the deck winch, which was spliced onto 45 meters of 10mm black yacht braid tail which was then was dead ended to the dock with 8 meters of 6 mm chain. Th object was very fast sinking , non tangling mooring lines which lie on the seabed away from the jets. This system with chain tail attachments to the dock was so successful that we use it permanently. If youre setting up a stern too berth for Arneson, jets or stabilizers it works well
