For the weekly GMDSS checks I have to do a DSC test call with the MF/HF radio, but I am never able to get an acknowledgement. Can anybody give me some tips on how to this? Which frequency is best to use? Are some Coastal Radio Stations better for acknowledging test calls? Where can I find propagation tables, I cannot find them in the ALRS?

Thanks, but those are MMSI numbers, not frequencies. The frequencies MF/HF DSC operate on are 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 16 MHz. Can somebody tell me what the range of these frequencies are roughly? Day and night time? I'm surprised I could not find this information in the Admiralty List of Radio Signals.

For propagation ,UTC , Frequency list, I always test out BBC world service first 6195, 9410, 12095 and BBC Africa Service are presently active. Radio China International is very active at night. http://www.primetimeshortwave.com/ Very much radio content has been terminated now that Internet is available. The US Coast Guard radio club has operators on line everyday . Google it .
