The main settlement on Green Turtle Cay is New Plymouth, situated on a small peninsula on the
southern tip of the cay. Like many places in the Abacos, the town was founded in the late 18th century by refugees from America and is full of charm with its narrow streets and pastel-coloured clapboard houses. Green Turtle Yacht Club is a few kilometres north of New Plymouth on White Sound, and is the focal point for sailing and diving on the cay. Visitors can enjoy meals on the terrace overlooking the marina or in the bar decorated with a variety of sailing flags.
