Port Xavier Colonna is situated in the centre of Calvi, one of Corsica's prettiest towns. An old citadel, the town clings to a promontory overlooking a crescent-shaped bay and is divided into the upper city and the lower, which runs alongside the marina. The blue waters of the Golfe de Calvi lap the shores of the four-kilometre-long beach that begins just east of the marina, while facing inland the view holds the snow-capped Monte Cinto. Calvi has many sporting and cultural festivals, including the traditional Easter festival of the Passion. From May to June, there are important regattas such as the Croisière Corse and Course du Figaro.
