Close to Saint Jean Cap Ferrat and in a natural harbour, the little port of Villefranche overlooks the wooded Cap Ferrat peninsula. The 14th-century town is a delight to wander through, with steps breaking up tiny streets that weave through this part of Villefranche, the most interesting being the arcaded Rue Obscure. The streets leading up from the port give wonderful glimpses of the sea below. The 16th-century citadel and the 17th-century church are also beautiful. Jean Cocteau decorated the 17th-century Chapelle Saint Pierre with frescoes in 1957. The marina also has a dry dock for boats.
