When owners Miene and Philippe decided to refit M/Y Vespucci, they had no idea just how pleased they’d be with the results, thanks to the refit talents of Monaco Marine, who took great care of the 30.5-meter beauty from builder CRN Ancona.
They particularly loved that she’s a Carlo Riva design. Because they were very involved with the refit — they traveled to Monaco Marine at least one or two times a month — they were able to keep as much as possible of his design on Vespucci. Keeping her as vintage as possible was a top priority for them.
The superyacht underwent quite a few impressive changes, including the flybridge, three heads, and the upper deck. Miene says they updated their technology and electronics because her husband “is completely in love with all new technologies so he also put a lot of energy and research in televisions, for instance,” which she said was Bang and Olufsen.
For Miene and her husband, their favorite change was probably the flybridge since it’s where they like to spend quite a bit of their time. They made huge changes to it, because prior to the refit, there were no tables so they could not eat upstairs. Miene says she loves that eight people can now eat at their small table, or they can add to the table and make it much bigger — as many as 14 can dine together.
Their second favorite upgrade are the three heads they redesigned to match their VIP head, which was a Carlo Riva design.
Despite taking almost two and a half years, they could not be happier with the results. “We really love our boat, we feel completely at home, it’s completely our style,” says Miene, who adds that the boat is like a part of them.
Vespucci was also nominated for Boat International Media’s World Superyacht Awards in the Rebuilt/Refit/Conversion yacht category.
