Nominations for the 2012 Voyager’s Award are now open. Captains and crew are invited to nominate their yacht’s owners for the prize, which will be presented at the World Superyacht Awards gala evening in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 5, 2012.
The Voyager’s Award recognizes an owner who has made extensive use of his/her 30-plus meter yacht in long distance voyaging and exploration. Last year’s winners were the owners of Dione Sky, whose 18-month cruise drew a figure of eight route around both North and South America and crossed both the Arctic and Antarctic Circles.
Another strong contender was the owner of the expedition yacht T6, which started out at Portsmouth before touring the northern Atlantic coastline, passing north of Canada to end in Seattle, Washington.
The adventuring yachtsman deemed to have made the most extraordinary journey between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2011, will be invited to attend the gala evening in Istanbul, where they will be presented with the silver Neptune trophy.
All entries will be judged by an independent subcommittee of well-traveled superyacht owners, and chaired by Roger Lean-Vercoe.
Nominations close on February 27, 2012. To see the full list of entry requirements and to make your nominations, go to
