The 140-foot yacht Maha burned to her steel hull when she caught fire in a refit yard near Bodrum, Turkey, according to an article on the Motorboating and Yachting website (www.mby.com). The yacht was launched by Defoe Boat and Motor Works as Bymar for a Palm Beach owner in 1938. She was converted for military use during WWII by Merrill Stevens and reverted to private ownership in 1946. Reportedly, Maha was undergoing restoration when the fire took hold.
