Oh the pain when you can't find the one you need! Yes, every mans sacred realm - the tool box! I can't imagine it being any different on the Yachts...right?
I was just wondering how it works with tools, do you all schlep your own around or are they provided?
If they are whats the armament like? We all have our favorites, will it be frowned upon if I bring my own Fluke or an array of seductive Knippex along?

On the yacht I am captain of we have a very deep set of tools from 14 years of hands on work. Custom made tools ,you name it. This may not be true on other yachts. Many yachts simply do not do tech work in house. Difficult to give advice. When you are working in Palma, the industry is very sophisticated. If you are moved out of mallorca you are naked. Remember that language is a problem. If you have electical component catologues on cd rom bring it. Almost all our marine gear is industrial grade. Nice to be able identify the piece then translte into spanish for your afternoon speeding thru the industrial park searching. Id say bring nothing for tools..then live and learn for the next project. Coming thru customs with a box of tools may ruin your day. The internet is king...everyboat in palma is plugged in.

Or hire multilingual crew. We're not all morons who'd rather sit in the crew mess and watch sky.

Don't suppose German helps unless you're in Hamburg right?
