Hi Suz,
I was in Antibes last summer and can give you two numbers from crew places in Antibes: the first one is the Glamorgan (www.theglamorgan.com): 0033625165457. The owners name is Chris Browne. He charges 200 Euro per week. You will share your room with two others. Every single room has a computer with internet access for free. Besides that it has a big hang out space with another computer and a big tv screen. It also provides a kitchen and a laundry room. Should you call him just tell him you've got the number from Jacky from Germany. Then he should know. Tell him I said Hello. The other place is called Crew House. The number is 0033492904939. Ask for Maarten. He is the owner. And the same. Tell him you've got the number from me. He charges 25 Euro per night. But if you stay there from Monday until Sunday you will get a special rate of 125 Euro per week. What means two nights are for free. In that crew house you share a room with four others. It has a kitchen to use mostly 'till 7.30 pm every day except for Sundays. Then they close down at 3 pm. Sometimes a little later. They changed it since twice the place almost got burned down by crew members coming home late at night totally drunk and tried to cook something and set the place on fire. Beside that it has an internet area you can use during opening hours between 8 am 'till 7.30 pm. But here the internet access is not for free. (There is a little internet place in town with reasonable prices.) The crew house offers a kind of a yard what is surrounded by walls and buildings. So it is totally private and just for crew members staying at the crew house. After they shut down the reception, internet and kitchen area at 7.30 pm you have access to it trough a separate gate. And therefor access to your room. A lot of yachties hanging out there in the evening having dinner and some drinks. Then later on the go out for few drinks at the Hopstore (yachties hang out) or to the Blue Lady ( another hang out but mostly for captains ). There is another hang out for yachties in town but I don't remember the name anymore. It is near by the YCO yachting agency.
I hope I could help you. Good luck and have fun in Antibes.
Bye, Jacky

Hey All,
I stayed in Antibes last summer, and stayed partly in the Crewhouse (as described by Jacky). It's great to get started, find your way about meet some great people, but the kitchens closing early can be annoying, especially if dayworking in Monaco, your not normally back before they close (more so a problem on the weekend). After 4 weeks at the crewhouse I moved into an apartment with a 2 friends, this worked great and was cheaper (70€ a week), small, but had everything you needed, kitchen, bathroom, tv, and 2 minutes walk from the IYCA. Downside is, you have lots of neighbors, can't host parties etc and networking isn't as good as at the crewhouese. I'd suggest start at one of the crewhouses, and then with a couple of friends find your own place if you start having enough. Lots of different agencies to rent from, the one I went to was on Bd Albert 1er (head towards the sea from Place General de Gaul)

Since when was the Blue Lady 'mostly for Captains'???? Stop talking nonsense. Antibes crew bars are not segregated like in Fort Licquordale....don't bring that over here!!
|
|

Yes, the Blue Lady... Charly's is gone......its the only original left. Reject imitations.

You shoudl try the crewhouse behind the hop store crew grapevine. its new, its quiet. Its clean. Its about the same level as the glamorgan, if not better, but defintately better than the crew house.

Missed the general idea behind that comment. I originally thought, WTF? then read it again and realised the question was underrated. Then I died and went to live next door to Brigitte B, so there...

We stayed at the Antibes French Prime Crew accommodation. Its clean and calm. Ideal place its quiet central and very closed to the that big water fountain in Antibes. 3 minutes walk hey Not bad! The pool is great, lovely garden and a Grand House. Carolyn has been wonderful to me and has gone the extra mile to help me settle in and showed me where all the crew agents. I recommend this place any time. and very reasonable price. Check out for your self! http://www.frenchprimecrewaccomodation.com/

Hi, for those who stayed at the Grapevine (or any crewhouse), did they help you find work at all?
I'm booked into the Grapevine because they've said they will help me find work but it's considerably more expensive than staying at a camping site in Biot, just wondered if it was worth the money to stay at a crewhouse.
Cheers
Nick

Hi! I am in Antibes already, staying in a campsite Pylone in Biot, just outside of Antibes. I am looking for someone to share the mobile home with as my friend has just moved out. It's very nice, clean, comfortable, sunny and cheap, 100e/week/person...... very close to Antibes. If you or anyone is interested, email me katerina_vtskv@yahoo.co.uk

Marinedex, whilst your links to accomodation are useful, they are not the last word or a definitive list as you imply. And yes you are advertising! I think it is useful and interesting to keep this thread open so crew can share their experiences and link up to share apartments etc.

Hey all,
I arrived yesterday, had nowhere to stay in Antibes so found a hostel in Nice and just jumped on the train today to get to Antibes. Not ideal but will do for a few days. Would like to share with someone, so just let me know when you arrive and if you need someone to share with. Nikkilou1202@hotmail.co.uk
