This example is the "Edmiston Yacht Hotel Group" job offers. Trust me, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
This scammer went so far as to encourage people to resign from their jobs immediately on the guarantee of a new, ludricuously-salaried job - which is a vile and vicious thing to do - worse than taking your money I think - to another person, much less a fellow, hard-working yacthie.
Please be aware that in order to send an email to members you would have to do so individually. This means that a large agency like Edmistion would not waste their time emailing each person! This information comes from Dockwalk's Deputy Editor, when I tried to send this message to all members myself!
PLUS: crew agencies would NEVER email you direct about job offers without first asking that you register with them, on their website, and load all your documents so they can check you out first.
Edmiston had no idea about their "offer" until their own crew started calling for jobs and realised their own database may have been hacked. When in fact, several of the Dockwalk community had received this message.
There are other avenues for checking out legitimate people and offers - even with a simple google search. To check on professional crew, many of them, especially captains, are registered with Professional Yacthsman Association www.pya.org or just ask around.

Unfortunately Edmiston is actually a legitimate Crew and Yacht Management Agency, who are now being dragged into these schemes. They would never send you a job through the mail though, until after you had registered with them as a crew member or a captain. And then they would already have your information, not ask you for it then.

Please be vigilant in your job search. Scams targeting yacht crew are rampant now. This morning a spammer sent out a scam message to many people in the crew available section of Dockwalk.com. Our webmaster receives a copy of each message sent through the job section. If anything looks suspicious, he immediately deletes the member’s account. But this morning’s spammer managed to send out many emails before he was stopped.
The spam was not automated – there is no way for automated spam to be sent through Dockwalk.com – but when members posts their availability, a function on the site allows potential employers to contact members. So please, do not automatically trust everything that comes from Dockwalk Careers. Because many legitimate job offers are sent through the site, we feel it would be a disservice to the Dockwalk community if we disabled the function.
Keep aware and don’t hesitate to notify us of any suspicious activity.

Dockwalk received an email from a crewmember, who warns of a scam from Daylight Yacht Club. Included below is the email he received.

Thanks for your email , I'm are sorry for late reply.I am very pleased
to inform you that your application have been approved, your past
experience shows that you are capable to work In our Yacht Club as Deckhand.
Salary: Your
base salary £5,000. Your salary is payable once a month at month end in
accordance with the Daylight Yacht Club practices.

Club are expected to work from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to

Thanks for confirming what I thought about a recent offer I got from the "Esmerelda Cruise Line".
The offer sounded just to good, however, the spelling & grammar were off and the mail was just too pressing (they wanted answers fast). Since I'd never been confronted with such a mail, I responded, despite my skepticism. I was just curious! What have I done? What can the consequences be for responding to such mail? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Be aware of a job scam using Carnival Cruise Lines name. Upon looking at the company's website, it states:
"Important Notice: Recently, we have been made
aware of fraudulent advertisements that have appeared in the classified
section of newspapers in certain markets around the country concerning

Generally, I would not reply to an email address to a company that ends withe .gmail or .yahoo or .live or any other personal email address. Legitimate companies primarily use the company email address when corresponding with business-related matters.
Anyone can add the website and address of a company to make their offer look official, but with a quick check of London River Cruises, Sunborn and crew management companies in Fort Lauderdale, all their contact information use the email address of the company — .sunborn.com, londonrivercruises.com, etc.
If you received an email in your personal account, didn't know who the sender was and the address included miscellaneous numbers and odd names, would you open it?
If a position looks like one you'd like to know more about, contact the company referenced directly before sending your personal information. Be careful. If you freely send your information about the Internet, who knows where it'll end up...you may find a sudden withdrawal in your bank account.

Usually scams like this tend to be based out of Nigeria. However, the last one I received (London River Cruises) seems to originate in SA. "The IP address 41.213.78.93 was found near Johannesburg, Gauteng located in South Africa." (you can determine the source by expanding the email header and putting the first IP address up from the bottom into Google - see expanded header below). SCAM ALERT - alexpotcic@gmail.com - SCAM ALERT!
I'd like to warn all job seekers about posted jobs which have a contact email address alexpotcic@gmail.com. All these jobs are scams, please do not waist your time or money and do not supply this guy with any information about you.
Here is a proof:
My partner and myself applied for a job on a cruise ship as a Deckhand and Stewardess sending our CVs to alexpotcic@gmail.com. This guy named Alexsandros Potamianos (Recruitment Officer for Classic International Cruises) sent us a few emails confirming that we got the jobs without any interviews. He sent us also something like a draft of contract and also a contact for an immigration office in UK, which supposed to help us with working visa for UK.
This is last scam email:
"We have recorded your documents to your application file number of CIC/PD110/2012 and CIC/PD104/2012. So therefore to proceed further , attached to this mail is your Letter of Invitation. Please do use this letter of invitation to apply for your working visa to join us and also note that the company will only be responsible for your flight ticket while all employees are responsible for there visa and work permit processing.
below is the details of UK Immigration Office .
UNITED KINGDOM IMMIGRATION SERVICES

Unfortunately, Alexsandros Potamianos with email address alexpotcic@gmail.com titled himself as Recruitment Officer for Classic International Cruises www.cic-cruises.com is not a real guy from this company and even given website is not correct and doesn't work.
Real guy is Alexandros (without s after x) Potamianos on the position of Sales&Marketing at Classic International Cruises and his email address is admin@wca.pt (see at http://www.portpalermo.it/ITCruiseCompany.html).
After realizing these facts, we also checked the immigration office contact given in the last scam email. The email address migrationbureau-unitedkingdom@consultant.com is not correct - the right company www.migrationbureau.com has a contact email london@migrationbureau.com and Ian Warner works there as Personal Relocation Agent (not as a Head of visa-permits operations).
Finally, we had a chance to speak with a fake Alexsandros twice:
1. we called him on the UK number given in the emails and his English was absolutely poor, he wasn't able to answer any questions about the contract, terms and conditions and was just repeating "you know what, you know what? send me email".
2. he called us and wanted to see our previous employment contract to correct the terms and conditions, so we could sign it - after investigation of his different number we found out, that he called us from Nigeria.
I hope, that our survey helps to stop this scam and gives all job seekers some useful advice.
