According to an email sent out by Antigua Sailing Week, fire broke out on board S/Y Titan on Monday, April 25 just after dusk. The Antigua and Barbuda Fire Service attended to the vessel; unfortunately, she was damaged beyond immediate repair and will not be able to continue racing in the regatta. Titan was in Falmouth Marina at the time of the fire. No one was injured, but the email noted: “Special mention must go to the entire yachting community based in Falmouth Harbour. Fire fighting equipment and training is a very important aspect of their profession and numerous yacht crew were quick to respond.”

I would like to add that a lot of the yachts around S/Y Titan got in and helped, bringing hoses, torches, etc and put the fire out before the fire brigade got there. We actually got stopped by the fire brigade and were asked where the fire was, and got there before them which we weren't far away from it.
Also just to add, there was a woman there " trying to stop spectators" around the scene- though a lot of the "spectators" were other yachties there seeing if they could help with anything just like we were.

Poor Titan not a nice thing to have - well done to all concerned with the firefighting efforts. Hopefully she will be fixed up nice and quick - sure would like to know what on earth caused this as apparently it happened at anchor. Assuming most things would be off at the time this could be interesting stuff. Yours 'aye Capt Ed ( hideousfrance.com)
