These are my questions I have asked employers when
considering a salary package.
1. Who is the employer? (The owner, a company or a third
party?)
2. Currency
3. Tax situation, (For example Luxemburg crew are paid Net)
4. The history of the fund transfers, (is the pay always
sent on the same day?)
5. Is there a compensation clause for late payment?
6. Holidays/ time off (Some yachts now work 6 day weeks, contractually
anyway, some yacht have a structure holiday program, You are going on holiday
then)
7. Crew insurance policy, (are you covered off the yacht?,
will the policy fly you home?)
8. Training, (are courses paid for, is the time taken
counted as holiday?)
9. Itinerary of the yacht,
10. How much are you paying?
