Privately owned, currently in Greece but heading to Monaco for the winter.
The start date would be from next week onwards once the right candidate has been found.
AEC and an engineering back ground would be preferable. Someone who is new to yachting but has an engineering background would be suitable.
Through the winter the basic working week is Monday-Friday, 8.00am-4.00pm with lunch and morning coffee break.
Weekends off unless needed.
The wage is €3250-€3750 (depending on experience) per month for a trial period of two months.
There is also a "summer bonus" and a pro rata Christmas bonus paid at the end of each year, resulting in 14mths pay.
There is also 1 flight home per year, paid by the yacht after one year’s service.
Holiday is 30 days per year, accrued through the year at 2.5 days per month. Holiday is normally taken through the winter period and must be coordinated with the chief engineer.
There is also an option for crew to live ashore, through the winter period, if desired.
All basic toiletries, food and beverages are supplied by the boat (for those living on board).
The yacht also covers all crew with a basic medical cover.
The crew are of mixed ages and nationalities, but seem to get on very well. Many crew members have been on board for many seasons. The owner enjoys seeing the same faces each season, mainly for this reason, the captain does ask all new crew to consider staying for two seasons, many do stay longer.
During the winter months the position is solely engineering and due to the age of the yacht there is a plenty of diverse engineering jobs to complete to get the boat ready for the summer.
During the summer months the 2nd engineer becomes part of the deck team assisting with berthing, watches, navigational duties, engine room watches, fuel bunkering and guest demands. Should any engineering issues arise the 2nd engineer priority will be to assist the chief engineer until the problem is resolved.
